che si chiama la regina di tutte le acque

Based on Ginger (Zingiber officinalis) and Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) it was the ancient recipe of the “acqua odorifera da Napoli che si chiama la regina di tutte le acque” (odoriferous water from Naples which is called the queen of all waters), such that a drop of it dissolved in water could generate a very sweet perfume. Ginger is the drug obtained from the rhizomes of Zingiber Officinalis, a plant from the East that was already used in ancient times to spice up refined dishes and to prepare liqueurs, cosmetics and medicines, as Marco Polo also reports in some passages of the book “The Travels of Marco Polo”.
